By Colin Harris Record-Courier staff writer The Portage Trail Conference County Division’s top talent proved once again that she is among Ohio’s elite. Mogadore senior guard Jordan Poth was named the Division IV Northeast Inland District Player of the Year on Friday after leading the Wildcats to a division title and helping lead the Wildcats into the Creston Division IV District Final. Poth, who averaged 22.2 points per game this year, was joined on the division’s First Team by teammate and longtime friend Amanda Sidwell, who added 16.7 points per game for Mogadore. Two other Wildcat standouts earned honors on the team, with Presley Destro being named to the Second Team and Lauren Hunt as Special Mention. Metro Division champion Ravenna earned its share of accolades as well, led by Division II First-Team selection Lauren Tilden. A senior guard, Tilden capped off her record-setting career at Ravenna with a 13.9 points-per-game average in her role as the leader of the best team in school history. Tilden was joined by teammate DiAndra Gibson, who was named to the Second Team, while Chanel Berry was named to the Third Team. For his role in guiding the Ravens, head coach Rod Chlysta was recognized as the Division II Coach of the Year. Bowling Green University-bound Kent Roosevelt center Cameron Black leads the charge for PTC boys players. A key player on one of the surprise teams of the postseason, the 6-foot-9 Black (16.4 ppg) was honored as a Division I First-Team selection. Black’s Rough Riders have rattled off a string of upsets this postseason, putting up wins over Hudson, Stow and Twinsburg at the Copley Division I District tournament. Roosevelt’s tournament trail will continue tonight when they play against Akron East for an opportunity to advance to the regional tournament. Tonight’s game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Copley High School. Mogadore senior forward Landon Trainer earned Division IV First-Team honors. The big man on a traditionally long-distance shooting team, Trainer worked himself into one of the premier post players in the conference. ••• Contact Colin Harris at charris@recordpub.com or 330-298-1123
