Associated Press ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Detroit fans may be denied yet another chance to watch the Lions on television. Team spokesman Bill Keenist says that as of Wednesday afternoon, more than 7,000 tickets remained available for Sunday’s game against Cleveland at Ford Field. If the game isn’t sold out by 1 p.m. Thursday — or 1 p.m. Friday, if the NFL grants an extension — the matchup of 1-8 teams will be blacked out in the Detroit, Lansing, Saginaw-Flint and Toledo, Ohio, TV markets.
Ramzi stripped of Olympic gold medal LONDON — Fifteen months after the Beijing Olympics, Bahraini middle-distance runner Rashid Ramzi was stripped of his 1,500-meter gold medal Wednesday and four other athletes were disqualified because of doping at the games. The International Olympic Committee took action against the five athletes who tested positive in April in retroactive tests for CERA, an advanced version of the blood-boosting drug EPO. The Moroccan-born Ramzi was the only gold medalist from Beijing caught using performance-enhancing drugs. He had given Bahrain its first Olympic track and field gold medal by winning the 1,500, one of the most prestigious events in the sport.
Magic would endorse plan to retire No. 23 NEW YORK — Magic Johnson would go along with LeBron James’ plan to have NBA players stop wearing No. 23. James said last week he would change jersey numbers next season in honor of Michael Jordan, and said no other players should wear it, either. “We care about the game,” Johnson said Wednesday. “We care about what’s important and so if everybody votes in terms of nobody should wear 23, we’re going to be the first ones to say it should happen.” Comments
