Joe,

Sorry about that. I was just joking around.

In many police departments when they have trouble finding their man/woman, the get information to someone they know telling the perp that they have won a prize. When the guy or woman shows up, police are there to nab them. Usually it is for the ones that owe back child support.

It just struck me at that moment that maybe the Feds could be using this for the same thing. Just a little brevity.

I will visit the website to check it out.

I didn't think anyone was going to take me serious.

Not many of the readers out there would even view this article.

The challenge is open to the public where you will find people with skills and those that wish to improve their skills. Spectators are also welcome to come see first hand why network/application security and awareness are important. Live demonstrations will be done to show how the "hacks" are performed and what it takes to achieve the objective.

Mr. Fleming,
I am surprised with your comment. Normally, you're vigilant about researching things before you comment on something. This time, though, it seems that you haven't done the proper research regarding this side of the IT/IS world.

Besides inviting you to come to the hack challenge, I ask you to spend a little time on the hack challenge website and the sponsor, Hurricane Labs, website. Besides finding that employees of Hurricane Labs have won a national hacking competition, OWASP, and were invited to teach at the international conference in Portugal, you may also find what the challenge is about and some articles that may give you a few other things to ponder.

Respectfully,
Joe Gedeon

Sounds like these guys are trying to catch some good hackers!

What better way to find a hacker than to put them in a contest to hack. I'm sure some have a particular way that separates them from others. All hackers have a signature and the best way to find them when you can't is to get them in a room together.

You won't see any real hackers there. Just hacks that think they're hackers.
