Kent Community TimeBank....what's that????July 27, 2010
Imagine having people do all the things that you don't want to do, or have time to do... for no cash! Perhaps you'll have someone clean your fridge, groom your dog, weed your garden, help you with your taxes, give you a guitar lesson, make your dinner or hem those pants you've been meaning to get done for the last 3 years! Now imagine spending the time you would be spending on the chores above doing something you LOVE to do!! Maybe you like to garden, cook, tutor, tune up bicycles, walk dogs, give rides, grill or sew! The Kent Community TimeBank is already up and running and members are exchanging exactly the services listed above and hundreds more. It is this simple: For every hour you give, you receive a time dollar which you can spend on any of the offers listed in the time bank. This is not "volunteering" and it is not "barter". Most exciting, new members are given 5 time dollars to start using right away. That's FIVE hours of service, skills or talents for you to take advantage of! Join us at our monthly potluck and social (first Friday of every month at the Roy Smith Shelter House)to learn more and meet members with whom you will be exchanging time dollars with! This program is free to join and funded through Imani Works. If you are unable to attend a potluck and are eager to join, please email me at abbygreer@sbcglobal.net Comments
