Back in January we signed up for a package deal with Time Warner. The price was supposed to be good for a year. Now they have raised our price. When I called I was told that the price was only locked in for the cable not the phone. The price they are rasing is on the phone part. Anyone got idea's on what to do?

I have AT&T's U-verse wireless internet service and pay just $30.00 a month. AT&T U-verse is a high speed connection that's as fast as Road Runner. I have had the service for a little over three years with no contract, no home phone line, no cable service and the fee has been $30.00 a month since the beginning. The trick to getting U-verse internet only is telling them up front you only want U-verse internet and if they cannot offer just the internet then you'll have to go elsewhere. They tried the package deal bit with me, but I explained I only needed the internet and stuck to my story. Once they understood I was not going to change my mind they offered me the internet service. I hope this helps. Good luck!

I have vonatge for my phone service love it.... no other fees exactly what they say... ATT had for long distance supposed to be 50.00 UNLIMITED long distance for the US, but then I would have 11.00 in charges for LOCAL TOLL CALLS!!! I was calling my daughter down the road!! Remember I had their unlimited long distance service for the entire country! SO if you are waiting for ATT you better really look into that! I had TMW did the same to me as you. Im looking into a cheaper internet service because you do have to have that for vontage. Only thing I have found with vontage is the phone breaks up if Im talking and down loading at same time. So I have to call them and into why. I have freind with majic jack she is always breaking up bad I dont call her anymore.

Truth, that sucks AT&T isn't available to you. I was under the assumption they covered all of NE Ohio. And if I'm not mistaken, they offer DSL independently, so when they do offer it where you live, you won't need to pay extra for a landline. (I'm a dinosaur who still has a landline along with a cell phone; it comes in handy when you'd rather not give out your cell number to anyone you might end up owing money too! LOL!)
When DSL is available, definitely jump on it. Skip paying for someone to install it for you as well - it's a snap. :)

Zippster - that's where they have me. I have no way to get high speed internet without them. I would gladly turn my TV off if I still could get high speed internet service from a different provider.

Ditch cable and satellite. You've obviously got internet access - Hulu.com and Netflix (both the home DVD deliveries and 'instant watch') work great. Quite a few networks also have full episodes of their shows available on their websites as well.
And if you have a newer TV capable of receiving digital signals, you should have ports on the back of your TV that will allow you to turn the TV into your computer monitor with the right cable (Go to amazon and search "d sub cable". Bought one for less than $15, and it works great). That cable coupled with a good UHF/VHF antenna from Radio Shack means I'm not at the mercy of cable and satellites arbitrary rate increases and crap customer service. Yeah, I miss being on top of some of the hottest cable shows, but in the end, it's worth not paying out the nose for it.

We have also had problems, been lied to , given terrible service ect...ect...2 years ago after about 3 months of headaches they sent another contracter out. Most were nice enough but THIS guy was SO rude, he left garbage all over our house & yard, yelled at me when I let him know that he wasnt working on the correct issue & told me to clean up his mess when I asked him if he was going to leave the job in that condition. Wires were hanging out of the walls, they drilled holes & didnt fill them in. When I was ready to switch to satelite I called the corporate # to (very politely) let them know how bad the service is (and I had to call several times untill someone heard my complaint)they actually ended up giving us a $120.00 credit. We stayed with them because of all the hassle it would be to switch to satelite, but one of the issues at hand has never even been resolved. They raised our prices w/out informing us (by $50 a month) & we werent on any kind of plan that had expired. they said it was due to cost increase..$50 worth??? We only have basic stuff. Well I had that taken off our bill but Im sure its only a matter of time where we have to go through it all over agaian. I dont know what can be done. We can complain all day long but I dont think it will help :(

I do not like TW at all. Their service sucks, you can call and talk to one person, call back and talk to someone else who gives you a completely different answer than what the first person gave. Our hi def constantly freezes and we miss parts of what we are watching - we are getting good at reading lips. It's nuts. And wind, you are correct TW has all of us by the b****s because there isn't any other cable company for them to compete with.

I had also have many problems with TW. Our Road Runner internet service and internet phone is constantly dropping the connection. When this happens we have no phone and anyone who calls gets a message about our number being "not in service". I have been looking for alternate providers and will likely make a move as soon as a new broadband cable provider is available.
