I hope the mayor does the right thing, he should consider what he has to deal with, one bad employee who will get angry when he deals with him, or the amount of residents in the Village that will get angry if he doesn't!

@Rover-
Our passion, as you stated, is unconventional at best i agree. The issue is that when problems are voiced nothing gets done or they are forgotten about. The reason we have been using the RC and the blog is because of pure publicity. We used to voice our opinions at meetings and when that way did not work (and we are talking YEARS) then we decided to use the Internet to our advantage. We saw no other way to do it, we wanted to keep our "dirty" laundry here and have it dealt with accordingly, but because of the way things are done (or not done) we had to resort to something a little more public. I totally agree with the "billable" hours issue and the budget and time frame that should be put into place to address any issues. The passion comes from ordinary citizens that are sick and tired of the way things are done. Our opinions were treated like they had no sustenance to them. I hope that with new members of council, a new attorney, and hopefully a new police chief these issues can be rectified and addressed accordingly. We might even have to have a new mayor that will actually do the job he was elected to do, one that has a back-bone and will make those hard calls and decisions. As I said before we have addressed these issues with council, with the mayor (in letters and complaints) and after years of these issues not being addressed we are sick and tired of it and find no other way to "shake the cage". |

Hey rover
I think your on to something, about watching the money and the different dept's. in the village. How about the police dept.having a chief that gets paid by the village but can't be found when he is supposed to be working in the village? It seems that he is getting paid by someone else while getting money from the village and then tells crime watch, we don't have enough money to run the police dept. correctly. |

If people are there that do not have a "vested" interest, you could call it being nosey. My questions came from simply being curious, as I stated.
As for the issue with the billable hours, if your council sets a time limit for an issue to be resolved, they should be setting a budget for it also. This could include limiting the amout of "billabe" hours to perform the task. If it takes longer, the council should be notified and vote to extend the deadline. It's no different than setting a limit on how much money they are wiling to spend on the maintainence department to fix a problem. If it goes over budget, it will need to be approved. By the way, I am more interested in the passion being displayed by those posting here. I have that same passion for my community. I am just interested in your approach to solving your issues. It's been very interesting. |
