The stainless steel of the new Diner Liner shines brightly in this 1949 photo just after its construction was completed in Kent. The diner, built by Charles Nay on site, operated at the corner of Erie and South DePeyster streets until the 1970s, when it was purchased by the Kline & Kavali firm, which was located there until early this summer before moving to Brimfield. The Kent Parks and Recreation Department recently relocated the diner to make way for a planned redevelopment project to extend Acorn Alley south to Erie Street. Charles Nay’s daughter, Linda Nay-Smith shared this photo with the Record-Courier.
