Residents of Freedom Township and members of the Freedom Congregational Church broke in their new pavilion recently. The day began with church services at 10 a.m. in a tent on the village green. Following the service, people played corn hole and checked out a fire truck and ambulance. The Veterans of Foreign Wars of Garrettsville conducted a memorial service for fallen U.S. service men and women. The church and the township provided chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers. Those attending brought desserts and hot dishes. Another picnic is planned next year on the Sunday before the Portage County-Randolph Fair.
