About 24 women, both active and retired teachers, of Gamma Upsilon chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, met recently at John Tontimonia City Park in Ravenna to renew old acquaintances and make new.

This is an international society of women educators who meet about once a month to learn about and support desirable legislation, to promote education and to honor women for distinctive service in any field of education.

Each meeting's emphasis differs and president Sarah Isler of Crestwood Local Schools announced the year's meetings along with the programs to be presented. The evening closed with guitar strums and group singing led by Stacy Jarvi of Crestwood Intermediate School.

Gamma Upsilon will join Theta chapter for a brunch to celebrate the beginning of the school year at 10 a.m. Sept. 25 at the First Congregational Church in Ravenna. Any woman currently teaching in any capacity is eligible to join. Nominations for the fall membership will be accepted until Sept. 30. Those interested in joining, should leave a message for Isler at the Crestwood Intermediate School at 330-422-2710.
