Members, family and friends of Blackhorse Baptist Church in Ravenna, currently under the leadership of interim pastor the Rev. Greg Freeman, recently paid tribute to the late Rev. Lorren F. Roberts, who served as pastor of Blackhorse Baptist Church for 50 years, until his passing in May 2009. Rev. Roberts served his congregation, as well as the surrounding community, in several ways. One most served and dear to his heart was his hospital ministry, which mostly took place through Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. During the time of his illness and passing, the Blackhorse Baptist Church was undergoing expansion through renovation and construction. Unfortunately, Rev. Roberts passed away before the new addition was complete. In his honor, the foyer section of the newly renovated church was named The Lorren F. Roberts Atrium. In his memory, a portrait of the late Rev. Roberts, completed by a local artist, was unveiled and will be permanently housed in the atrium. Pictured are his family, from left, Priscilla Atwood, Dinah Roberts, Jill Harn, Betty Roberts, Loren Roberts and Paula Shipp.
