Probation for heroin dealer Man gets 5 years of intensive supervision; faced prisonMarch 16, 2010
By Dave O'Brien Record-Courier staff writer An Akron man who sold heroin in Brimfield last summer was ordered Monday to serve five years probation. Donnie R. Antoine Jr., 32, faced six to 12 months in jail after pleading guilty in January to one count of fifth-degree felony trafficking in heroin for an incident last June. Portage County Common Pleas Judge Laurie Pittman instead sentenced him to nine months on intensive supervised probation and 51 months standard probation. Antoine also was ordered to attend two Narcotics Anonymous or Alcoholics Anonymous meetings per week for a year, perform 24 hours of community work service in Portage County and pay a $300 fine. His driver's license was suspended for one year with driving privileges for counseling, probation and NA/AA meeting privileges. Antoine, standing with defense attorney Charles R. Quinn, told Pittman he got into dealing through a relationship with a woman and wanted to "get this all over with." On the request of the Portage County Prosecutor's Office, Brimfield Police Chief David Blough stood up in court and told Pittman that Antoine also has a driver's license under the name "Johnny Antoine," whom he said is a person who died in California in 1985. Blough said any law enforcement agency in the nation can look up that license and find Donnie Antoine's photo on it under the assumed name. Pittman also ordered Antoine to surrender that driver's license. Comments
