By Dave O'Brien Record-Courier staff writer For the second time in four years, an Aurora man has been found manufacturing illegal drugs in his home. Portage County Sheriff David Doak said the Portage County Drug Task Force, on March 5, executed a search warrant on 934 Lloyd Ave. in Aurora. Acting on complaints from residents in the area, agents found a clandestine, operational methamphetamine laboratory inside the residence. Numerous chemicals and products used to manufacture the illegal drug were discovered inside the residence, and agents were assisted in cleaning up the scene by another agency. Lloyd Avenue is in the northwest corner of Aurora, not far from the former Geauga Lake amusement park. Resident Daniel M. Morway, 45, is expected to face charges of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony due to a prior conviction for the same charge in 2006; and endangering children, a third-degree felony. Additional charges are pending, according to the task force. The drug task force was assisted in the incident by Portage County sheriff's deputies and officers from the Aurora, Brimfield, Kent and Streetsboro police departments. Morway was arrested in September 2005 by Aurora police and indicted in February 2006 on a third-degree felony charge of assembly or possession of chemicals to manufacture a controlled substance, according to court records. He pleaded guilty to attempted assembly or possession of chemicals, a lesser fourth-degree felony, in May 2007 and was sentenced in July 2007 by Portage County Common Pleas Laurie Pittman to nine months intensive supervised probation and 51 months general probation. At the time, Pittman ordered Morway to continue counseling, attend one Alcoholics Anonymous meeting per week for two years, find a full-time job and pay a $250 fine. She told him he would serve 18 months in prison if he violated the terms of his probation. Morway's supervised probation was terminated and his citizenship rights restored Nov. 7, 2008, by Pittman's order and on the recommendation of the Portage County Adult Probation Department, according to court records. The Portage County Drug Task Force is comprised of officers from the Portage County Sheriff's Office, the Aurora, Garrettsville, Kent and Streetsboro police departments and the Portage County Prosecutor's Office.
