The Portage County Senior Services Center is currently in the process of organizing the 14th annual Senior Celebration of Achievement. As part of this event to honor area senior citizens, a Senior Citizens Hall of Fame has been established.
Each year for the past 13 years, a lady, a gentleman and a couple have been selected to be recognized for their contributions to the community.
The requirements are that they be at least 55 years of age, a resident of Portage County for at least five years, and have done something to contribute to the quality of life in Portage County.
Applications can be obtained by contacting the Portage County Senior Services Center at 330-297-3456.
Completed applications must be returned by April 16 to the Portage County Senior Services Center at 705 Oakwood St., Ravenna.
The winners from last year's nominees will meet the last week of April and select this year's group to be recognized at the Senior Celebration of Achievement on May 11 at the Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy in Rootstown.
