Urges board to reconsider vote

This is a sad, sad day for Field Schools. Rejecting the grant to establish a creative arts academy comes at a time when there was a light at the end of the tunnel concerning the financial conditions of the district.

I sincerely hope the Field Board of Education will reconsider its vote and will affirm the importance of proceeding with the academy. It is good for the finances of the district. It is especially good for the students in the district. The academy will preserve jobs, maintain lower class sizes, and be a magnet for other students to come to Field Schools.

The board's action to turn their backs on a half-million dollars sends a message to voters that no additional money is needed for the district.

I hope the new members of the board will review the requirements for board participation and put personal agendas aside for the good of the district.
