ILLE Virginia M. Nelson, 91 years of Shalersville, became Our Gift to God on Sunday March 7, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Nelson was Gods Gift to Us on December 16, 1918 in Ravenna, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Kotolowska) Miazga. A longtime resident of the Shalersville-Mantua area, Mrs. Nelson formerly was employed at the Ravenna Arsenal and at Majestic Dry Cleaning in Ravenna. She and her late husband were the owners-operator of Nelsons Friendly Service in Shalersville. Mrs. Nelson was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Mantua. Grandma Nelson enjoyed gardening, bird watching and spending time fishing in Canada with her family and the special memories that each trip brought to everyone, as well as being a true connoisseur of Canadian beers. Survivors include her daughters Charlotte M. Burke of Shalersville and Virginia A. Barnosky of Ravenna; 9 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. On June 11, 1938, she married Charles S. Chink Nelson who preceded her in death in 2000. Also preceding her was her son Stanley in 1976, brothers Frank and Mike Miazga and sisters Laja Carl and Frances Elgin. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where prayers will be said Thursday at 9:15 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday March 11, 2010 10:00A.M. at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Mantua with Rev. Fr. Michael Garvey officiating. Mrs. Nelson will be laid to rest beside her loving husband at Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville Township with Anthony Hood, Carl Wieclaw, Gary Jones and James Wagner respectively acting as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Robinson Memorial Hospital.
