Ravennan charged with pretending to be a police officer

A Ravenna man is facing four charges in two cities after he was involved in a pair of incidents Saturday and early Sunday.

Mohammad Omar, 30, of 874 W. Main St., is accused of impersonating a police officer in Kent, and just hours later carrying a firearm into an Akron nightclub. 

Lt. Ray Stein of the Kent Police Department said officers were notified shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday of a disturbance on Franklin Avenue near the Kent Recreation Center.

When an officer arrived, he found an “altercation” between two motorists — one of whom was Omar.

“Through the officer’s investigation, he learned the suspect may have been trying to pass himself off as a police officer,” Stein said. “There was something said about him being a police officer. When the police showed up it was discovered he was not — our officers found out otherwise.”

In that incident, Omar was charged with impersonating a peace officer and reckless operation of a motor vehicle, both fourth-degree misdemeanors.

Omar was not arrested, but was issued a summons to appear in Portage County Municipal Court in Kent.

Four hours later Omar was arrested at the Lux Nightclub & Ultra Lounge in Akron and charged with possession of firearms where liquor is sold, a fifth-degree felony, and carrying a weapon while intoxicated, a first-degree misdemeanor.

According to Summit County Court records, Omar was released from jail on a signature bond.

Omar was scheduled to be arraigned today in Kent Municipal Court at 8:15 a.m. stemming from the incident in Kent.

He is also scheduled for a status hearing on the other charges on July 15 at Akron Municipal Court.

My wife won't go through his drive through due to his swarmy comments. He tells her she has beautiful eyes, etc.

To be fair, all the charges are alleged, and comments posted here are considered "heresay". He seems to be looking for attention, based on his choice of vehicle, and the way he apparently drives with lights(allegedly)on top.
This case is not clear cut. There was in recent months a guy who dressed like a DARE cop, with a gun walking in local schools. THAT is impersonating an officer-this case, I dunno...

Wait does his wife know he hangs out with 18 and 19 year old girls??? Haha He drives them around and stalks one girl I know! He said he wanted to take her to his condo in Stow or something like that! Haha I hope she leaves his ass!

Looking at his MySpace page, he is a total wannabe. Wants to be everything other than he really is. He wants to be a biker, a wigger and a cop. What a joke.

Checked out getmoes myspace and saw he neither drinks or smokes? Hmmmm...why does he then show pictures of him with a cigarette in his hand? Also, why has he had numerous encounters with people while being intoxicated? I guess we also must just take his word for it then he has never impersontaed or implied to people he worked as a cop or in some other capicity of law enforcement? i wonder if he'll getmoe from his money on his commissary when he goes to jail?

I believe everything happens for a reason. This guy obviously has some real self esteem problems that he has to pose as a cop and obviously does not qualify to be a real one. Now this guy will never be able be a cop in Ohio and he can kiss that CCW permit goooooodddddd byyyyeeeee. That is great!!!!! Real Kharma in my opinion.

And to come on here and try to justify crazy behavior?? Well that is just a testament of how screwed up this guy really is. This incident is a set back to every law abiding honest CCW permit holder that does the right thing everyday.

To bad those kids had to have the crap scared out of them. Now they will probably be suspicious of real cops when they come across them.

He is right about one thing though, the court system will have the final say. He better hope he gets one of the lenient judges because that dude is "in a heap 'o trouble".
