The Hispanic Scholarship Fund, the nation's leading organization supporting Hispanic higher education, will make scholarship applications for the 2009-10 academic year available online on Sept. 1.

Current and prospective students may apply at the Web site https://apply.hsf.net.

To be eligible for the HSF General College Scholarship Program, applicants must be Hispanic, plan to enroll full-time in a degree-seeking program at an American accredited institution of higher learning in the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam.

A minimum grade point average of 3.0 and legal residency in the United States are required.

The average scholarship award amount is $2,500.

High school seniors and current college students may complete their applications online until 11:50 p.m. EST on Feb. 18.
