Reunion: Roosevelt '53 hosts gatheringAugust 26, 2008
The class of 1953 of Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent celebrated its 55-year reunion with three days of activities. On Aug. 1, Mikelann and Chet Williams welcomed 28 classmates and guests to an evening open house at their Kent home and gardens. The following evening, the celebration continued with a dinner reception at the Twin Lakes Country Club. Committee member Mitzie Lenzo greeted the group of 37 participants and gave the invocation. Mikelann Williams read the names of 18 classmates in memoriam as Aunalee Breckenridge lit a candle for each one. Following dinner, Mary Alice Adolph read "Do you remember?" a series of prominent happenings from their high school days. She also provided door prizes from her antique glass collection. Each donated glass piece dated to 1933, 1934 or 1935 to coincide with the birthdates of classmates. A brief business meeting followed and the group decided to meet again in two years. On the third day, everyone regrouped for a farewell breakfast buffet served at the home of Bob and Aunalee Breckenridge of Kent. The planning committee included chairman Aunalee Breckenridge, Mary Alice Adolph, Mitzie Lenzo and Mikelann Williams. (photo) Timothy St. Hilaire/Record-Courier
