EDINBURG - The campaign trail wound through Portage County today as presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama stopped at Stahl's Farm Market on S.R. 14 just after 1 p.m. today on his way from a rally in Austintown to a rally at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea.
The Obama convoy rolled up, surprising a handful of shoppers. The presumptive Democratic nominee, flanked by U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown and Gov. Ted Strickland, stopped to shake hands with customers and bought peaches from the market.
Obama chatted with Portage County Municipal Court Judge John Plough, who stopped by, as well as several local women who happened to be at the market on their way back from horseback riding at West Branch State Park.

cool, a big time candidate actually stopped in Portage county.
Did he buy lots and lots of peaches?
I bet he never had a ripe vine peach, right off a tree.
Probably only peaches without the pit. And carefully hand picked for him, pealed and on a plate.

And he did not stop at KSU...good heavens. Guess clases were not in session.

I work there and it was insane!
We only new 10 minutes prior to him coming! There were some people who came into the store yesterday and said they were agents, but we didn't think anything of it! Very cool! I got my picture with him!

Yea, I just came back to comment that he bought peaches after reading it on the Beacon. LOL.....

Just happened to be there. According to the ABJ, the owners only knew 15 minutes prior! You're right......I should have said stop and smell the peaches since that's what he bought!

DoWhat'sRight:
Aren't all political campaigns carefully planned choreographed operations?

So did he actually buy anything? You know spend some money in Portage County?

Hey DM: you missed a perfect one liner...Instead of getting out and smelling the roses you should have said smell the fruits and veggies! That's nice you were able to meet him. So did you have a heads up he was going to be there or was it fluke?

i am happy to see a candidate actually visited a small area like ours, some candidates dont realize our votes count too.they concentrate on the bigger cities and sometimes forget the small towns.
