About The Record Publishing Company
The Record Publishing company serves Portage County, as well as parts of four additional counties in northeastern Ohio. Our fourteen publications reach 175,000 households combined.
Portage County is an area that is well-known for its diversity. It's soft rolling hills are the home of farming, small manufacturing, affordable housing, a strategic road network and three institutions of higher learning. Kent State University, with nearly 20,000 students, is located in Kent. Hiram College, with approximately 1000 students, is a liberal arts college in the northeastern portion of the county. The Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine is an ac celerated medical school serving Youngstown State University, Kent State University and the University of Akron and is located in Rootstown. Ravenna, the County Seat, is popular for having many antique stores in its charming, traditional-style downtown. In the rapidly growing areas of northern Portage County, Aurora has maintained the Western Reserve theme while accommodating small manufactur ers in numerous industrial parks. Aurora is also the home of Six Flags amusement park and the Aurora Farms, an 80 store factory outlet shopping area. Streetsboro, once a bedroom community, now boasts booming industrial growth along with retail expansion. Interstate highways place this area only 30 minutes from downtown Cleveland. Two Ohio Turnpike interchanges are located in the County; one in Streetsboro and the other north of Ravenna. These help open the doors for greater economic development throughout the county. |
